Caitlin Sullivan è un detective del New York Police Department all'opera soprattutto nel quartiere di Brooklyn. A causa della sospensione della sua patente, dovrà fare affidamento sul tassista francese Leo Romba, che si rivelerà anche un valido aiuto nella risoluzione di molti casi a cui Cat affianca la sua ricerca personale: far luce sulla morte del padre, che si sospetta sia stato ucciso da una famiglia criminale.
